Firm History

This law firm traces its roots in Peace River to the 1940's, when V.R. Baldwin and Claude Campbell entered into a partnership. Mr. Baldwin retired in 1949 and Claude Campbell practiced alone (and as a part time Provincial Judge) until 1959, when the practice was sold to Harry Maddison, who also practiced with Claude Campbell from 1962 to 1965.

In 1966 Richard Marceau, Q.C. (appointed a Justice of the Queen's Court of Alberta in 1995), articled to Harry Maddison and practiced with him until Mr. Justice Maddison was appointed a Justice of the Supreme Court of the Yukon Territory.

In 1971 William N. Gilbert, Q.C. (appointed Provincial Court Judge in 1991) joined Marceau, and Guy C. Mathieu, Q.C. joined the firm in 1973. Larry P. Hryniuk, Q.C. joined the firm in 1976, Robin D. Erickson in 1990,Robert B. Marceau joined the firm in 1999.


Dave Shynkar joined the firm in 1986 and was appointed to Provincial Court, effective February 11th, 2013.

G. William (Bill) Paul joined the firm in 2000 (appointed Provincial Court Judge in 2005), Colin A. Gagnon joined the firm in 2004, and Boyd E. Langford joined the firm in 2005.  Jaimie Warne joined the firm in 2013 and Davin May in 2014.

The current partners of the firm are Robin D. Erickson QCRobert B. Marceau, Colin A. Gagnon, Boyd E. Langford, K. Jaimie Warne and Davin D. May.

Some members of the firm are bilingual.
